Rare Sunny Jet with Kate Rumford
winning 1st in the Senior 2D and 5th
in the open 4D at the Topeka Barrel
Bash, March, 2006
This photograph was his first exhibition at a rodeo in 2004
at Longford, KS.
Sunny was a 2000 bay gelding from our breeding program.  He was with Kate Rumford, Rumford Rodeo
Company, Abbyville, KS.  Kate took Sunny to his first major competition, the Barrel Bash at Topeka,
Kansas on February 17, 18 & 19, 2006.  He ran a 16.9 on Friday (15.1 was winning).  He ran a 16.5 on
Saturday and was 5th in th 4D and 1st in the Senior 2D.  He ran a 16.5 on Sunday with a bobble at the
third barrel that cost him .2 or more.  He continued to get better with every run.  He could make those
three step turns around the barrels and accelerate between them.  Sunny was very well broke.   He
was hauled to rodeos and jackpots.   He was very quick and had plenty of speed to be competitive when
he reached his potential.   Dally Davis rode Sunny in some of the spring high school rodeos in 2008 after
she lost her horse.  They placed fifth .2 behind last years National High School Rodeo champion in one
go round.  He could have taken you anywhere you want to go.

He has been used to sort and move cattle and has been roped off of in the cattle pens and the arena.
He also had the potential to be a high level roping horse.  He spent 45 days with a reining trainer and
had a great stop and moved off of your leg.  Rumfords hauled him to Las Vegas several times and he was
ridden in the grand entry for every performance of the National Finals Rodeo.  He was also privileged
to be used in horsemanship in the Miss Rodeo America contest and posed with Miss Rodeo America
2006 (see picture below).

Sunny went to Europe with the rodeo production company in the fall of 2009.  He was ridden in the
barrel race (which he won), carried a flag, used as a heeling horse and used to sort and gather cattle.
He was a very talented horse.  He was injured in Europe and had to be put down.  We are saddened by
this loss.  We feel fortunate that we have a full sister to his mother.
